Design Technology

At Brooklands Primary School we aim to have a creative and purposeful Design Technology experience for all of our pupils. Teaching is developed from the Projects on a Page scheme, which enables children to have ownership over the products that they produce. Teaching encourages children to make their own decisions and to create products which are useful that have a direct user base. All starting points are open ended, meaning that the children are able to have an enquiry based learning experience when it comes to designing, testing and evaluating the products that they make. Design technology is a fantastic opportunity for cross curricular learning and risk taking; children will often find themselves drawing upon teaching from Maths, Art, Science and English in order to problem solve and create their final product.
